Andrew Cranston

Cranston’s paintings draw from personal memories, literary fragments, humorous anecdotes, and everyday observations, transforming seemingly ordinary scenes into dreamlike visual moments. He often paints on the covers of old books, layering oil and varnish to create a surface that feels both modest and mysterious. His works occupy a space between intimacy and estrangement—imbued with the soft light and warmth of French Post-Impressionists such as Bonnard and Vuillard, yet retaining the rustic wit and narrative sensibility of British figurative painting.
